• Description

  Intended use of the rapid test
  This one-step Test is intented to use as practical/routine screening test that can be done in a few minutes. This test kit is designed to detect Giardia antigen by use of a rapid immunochromatic Assay.

  Storage and Use

  The rapid test should be stored at room temperature (+/- 21°C). An unopened package can be used up to the indicated expiration date. An opened rapid test should be used immediately. Avoid freezing or heating the rapid test. Prolonged exposure to undesirable environmental temperatures may result in reduced performance of the rapid test.

  Test Material

  It is advised to take the sample from the feces or a rectal swab sample of the animal to be tested. Tissue culture samples can also be tested. It is recommended to test the samples as concentrated as possible. It is advised to test the samples immediately after collection. For longer storage, the samples should be stored at a temperature below -20°C.

  Content

  • 1x pouch, with 1 test strip, 1 pipette and 1 cotton swab
  • 1x micro tube with buffer
  • 1x manual / protocol

  Precautions

  • Treat all samples as if they could potentially transmit infectious diseases.
  • Avoid contact between the pipette and mouth/eyes.
  • Avoid preparing food, drinking, smoking, or applying cosmetics around the work area with the sample/test strip.
  • Do not use components that have expired and do not mix components from different batch series.
  • Optimal results are obtained by strict adherence to this protocol. Careful pipetting and sampling according to the protocol are necessary to ensure accuracy.
  • The test strip is used as an optical reference after application. Therefore, do not touch the surface of the test strip and protect it from damage and dirt.

  Test Protocol

  1. Open the package and check if the rapid test is complete (test strip, pipette, and swab). Use only the number of pouches required. An opened package must be used immediately.
  2. Take a single sample per swab.
  3. Place the swab into the micro tube and dissolve the sample in the liquid (Figure 1).
  4. Allow the liquid in the swab to drain well so that as much liquid as possible remains in the micro tube.
  5. Let the solution stand briefly to allow solid particles to settle to the bottom. If this takes too long, it is recommended to centrifuge the solution.
  6. Take the pipette and aspirate as much of the liquid (top, clear layer of the solution excluding solid particles) as possible (Figure 2).
  7. Pipette 4 drops of the liquid onto the test strip in the "S" zone (Figure 3).

  Allow the liquid to act for 5-10 minutes and then read the results (see: interpretation of test results).
