The headquarters of this company is currently just north of Baltimore, MD. Black & Decker is at this time one of the largest tool companies out there, a true behemoth so to speak, and it has nearly 30,000 employees with an estimated $12 billion in annual revenues.

Now, one of the things that we have not mentioned yet is who owns both of these brands. Well, the interesting thing is that both of these brands are owned by the same parent company. To be specific, in the year 2010, Stanley merged together with Black & Decker to form Stanley Black & Decker. This is the parent company that owns both Stanley Tools and Black & Decker.

What we want to do right now is to figure out which of these two tool brands has the better product quality. First, we want to take a look at Stanley, which is often known as being the highest quality budget brand of tools in the world. So, on one hand, they are a budget brand, which means that the tools cannot be the best in the world, but they are also known as being the best budget brand, so they do have to have a certain level of quality.

Stanley is not known for making all that many tools, mostly just hand tools, as well as a few other things, but they are generally seen as being fairly high in quality. This is especially the case with the hand tools that are made in the USA, mostly things such as tool storage, hand tools, utility knives, tape measures, and other such things. Do keep in mind that although most of these tools are made in the USA, they are actually just assembled in the USA using components that are made in foreign countries.

So, if you need reliable hand tools for daily use then Stanley is a good brand to keep in mind, although it doesn’t really stack up to the far more expensive brands out there, especially in terms of durability and long-term use. Stanley tools are fine for moderate use, and may even be OK for light work in terms of professional purposes, although we would not use them on a daily basis for heavy-duty work.

On the other hand, we have Black & Decker, a company known for producing a very wide array of power tools, hand tools, lawn and garden equipment, and more. People do seem to be fairly pleased with Black & Decker tools, especially the cordless power tools that are said to be extremely convenient and useful.

With that being said, they are seen as being good for lightweight use, but may not be able to live up to the rigors of a busy job site. These tools are seen as being fairly entry-level. Do keep in mind that just like with Stanley, the vast majority of Black & Decker tools are made in China. When it comes down to it, the tool quality of both brands is about the same, with Stanley likely having the better hand tools.

As a brand, Stanley does have good warranties, as it offers full lifetime warranties for all mechanic’s tools, limited lifetime warranties for hand tools and garden tools, and either two- or three-year limited warranties for everything else.

Most Black & Decker tools are covered by a limited lifetime warranty, with many of the power tools being covered by a two-year limited warranty. With that being said, finding warranty information for this brand is not easy, so there may be more information out there.

What needs to be said here is that Black & Decker is of course the much larger company of the two. In general, it has a much larger product selection. It just produces many more different types of products, and this generally goes for all product categories, all but one single category.

What you need to be aware of here is that Stanley is the flagship line of hand tools from Stanley Black & Decker. The main focus of Stanley is hand tools, and this is exactly why it has a much larger selection than Black & Decker. This is true for pretty much any and every type of hand tool that you could possibly imagine.

Now, if you are looking for hand tools, then Black & Decker is the definite option to go with. When it comes down to it, Stanley barely makes any power tools at all, whereas Black & Decker has one of the largest selection of power tools out of all tool brands in the world.
