Air Fryer Cookies

What is your go to comfort food? For me, I have always had a crazy sweet tooth. I could give up bread, I could give up crisps, I rarely drink wine, I hate coffee, but OMG I have the biggest sweet tooth ever.

I love chocolate chip cookies, I love chocolate cake and keep a birthday cake away from me, because I will eat the whole thing given the chance.

Normally I just have some dark chocolate in the kitchen cupboard, but if I am craving something better, I will ask Chef Dom and he will be kind enough to make me a batch of chocolate chip cookies in the air fryer.

He will also bring me some chocolate chip cookie dough before air frying and then bring me a delicious chocolate chip cookie on a napkin before we binge watch something on Netflix.

I am a very lucky wife!

What is wonderful about cookies in the air fryer (well apart from them tasting amazing) is that we will always have the ingredients in our pantry, and he will be able to make some, without going out for other ingredients.

If you would like to learn how to make cookies in the air fryer, that are easy, that are easy to mix and match with ingredients you already have in, or you want to freeze them for later, then this for you.

Plus, as well as our free newsletter, we also have a free air fryer mini course. It is ideal for air fryer beginners or those that want to get more confident with their air fryer. The free course runs for 5 days with a new lesson delivered each day to your inbox.

Can You Bake In An Air Fryer?

Yes, you sure can. The air fryer is fantastic for baking in. Though you need to get used to the air fryer baking temperatures and cook time, and once you have your head around those, then baking in the air fryer will be a dream come true for you.

The kinds of baking you can do in the air fryer is never ending, and some of my favourites include air fryer scones, air fryer chocolate cake, air fryer pull apart bread rolls, air fryer homemade pizza and let’s not forget about air fryer garlic bread.

Can You Air Fry Cookies?

Yes, you sure can and OMG air fried cookies are a life changer. When you air fry cookies you can do a small batch or a big batch.

I love using one full batch of air fryer cookie dough to make a pizza hut copycat cookie skillet.

You can also make any of your favourite cookie recipes in the air fryer and then mix and match with what chocolate you have available.

Are Air Fryer Cookies Good?

Yes, they are the best.

I have not made cookies any other way (apart from the air fryer) for 10 years now and they never fail to impress me.

You can also leave the cookies in the air fryer for a little longer and they will be like crispy cookies or go slightly less on the cookie time and they will be like your favourite soft chocolate chip cookies.

Can You Bake Cookies On Foil?

Yes, you can, and I recommend that you bake cookies on foil. This is because it makes cleaning your air fryer so much easier.

You can place your cookies onto the foil and then there is no sticky cookie bits or cookie crumbs stuck to the air fryer basket.

Recipe This | Air Fryer Chocolate Chip Cookies (3)

Then once your air fryer cookies are done, simply remove with the foil and the foil can be your cooling tray.

By doing this you have no air fryer to clean and no cooling rack to clean either.

Will Cookie Dough Stick To Aluminium Foil?

No problem there. The cookie dough will not stick to the foil. This would only happen if your dough was too wet, and you didn’t have enough flour in the mixture.

When we make air fryer cookies from scratch its very easy to remove the foil after air frying.

Chocolate Chip Cookies Air Fryer Ingredients

Chocolate – To bake cookies in air fryer, it’s all about the chocolate. I recommend any of your favourite chocolate chips, chocolate chunks or grated chocolate. We are using white chocolate chips and milk chocolate chips in our recipe.

Sugar – We recommend a mix of white sugar and brown sugar. We find that with brown sugar only, that they are not as sweet as we would like.

Flour – If you would like your cookies to puff up a little then I would recommend self raising flour, if not plain will do the trick.

Butter – You can use either butter or margarine in these chocolate chip cookies. I prefer butter and then I can chop it into small chunks before using the hand mixer.

Milk – A little milk is needed to bind the cookies together and to create that perfect cookie dough. You can also swap the milk for cream to make them even more softer.

Extras – I also recommend some kind of syrup to make it extra sweet and make your cookies lighter. Such as golden syrup, toffee sauce, maple syrup or honey. Then as well as this for extra flavour I recommend adding a little vanilla essence.

Then for the kitchen gadgets that we have used in this cookies air fryer recipe, it has just been our Philips Air Fryer. We have this one and its wonderful for many types of air fryer recipes and perfect for baking.

  • Chocolate. Then add in chocolate chunks or chocolate chips and mix with a fork.

  • Shape. Next divide your cookie dough into four equal parts for giant cookies or into 8-10 for regular sized cookies. Then make into cookie shapes.
  • Cook. Load into the air fryer and air fry for 8 minutes at 180c/360f.
  • Serve. Add extra chocolate chips on top of your cookies and then serve with hot chocolate or milk.

Air Fryer Cookies No Egg

You probably noticed that for our air fryer cookies recipe ingredients and method above, that there was no mention of eggs.

That is because the British way of making cookies doesn’t include eggs or melted butter.

Making it fantastic for bingeing on raw cookie dough without worries about eating the raw egg.

How Long To Cook Cookies In Air Fryer?

The recommended cook time for chocolate chip cookies in air fryer is JUST 8 minutes.

This is also based on 4 giant chocolate chip cookies and creates delicious soft chocolate chip cookies.

If you want more of a crisp to your chocolate chip cookies I would recommend increasing the cook time to 10 minutes.

Cookies In Air Fryer

Remember above when I mentioned that you can make cookies in air fryer with ingredients in your pantry? Well. There are many variations you can make on your air fryer cookies.

For example, you can make ramekin chocolate chip cookies in the air fryer. This is one of my favourites and is like a chocolate chip cookie cake.

You use the EXACT same recipe but place your cookie dough in a floured ramekin. This is fantastic for individual portions and for dinner parties, or for romantic nights in for two.

Then you air fry your ramekin cookie dough for 12 minutes at 180c/360f and you have something equally delicious with your cookie dough. You can also add cream on top for the wow factor.

Another idea is to swap your chocolate chips for chocolate chunks and make air fryer chocolate chunk cookies instead.

When we lived in Portugal it was impossible to source chocolate chips. What we did instead was use a large Dairy Milk bar and then chop it up into chunks and then use this instead of chocolate chips.

This works well if you don’t have any chocolate chips in and crave cookies or when you are using up spare chocolate over the holidays.

Or another favourite of mine is to make air fryer double chocolate cookies. You add to the ingredients a heaped tablespoon of any of your favourite hot chocolate powders or cocoa powder. It then gives you that wonderful chocolate colour and tastes even better.

Then of course, cookies are not the same without a warm mug of hot chocolate on the side. I recommend you check out our soup maker hot chocolate recipe that is made with condensed milk as its amazing!

Notes

Swaps. We made our chocolate chip cookies with a mixture of chocolate chunks, milk chocolate chips and white chocolate chips. You can mix it up too or just use a bag of chocolate chips that you have in your pantry.

Size. Our air fryer will only hold 4 giant cookies, yours might hold more or less. Do them in batches until they are all done.

Foil. A bed of foil is recommended to avoid a mess in your air fryer basket. You can just add a layer and then place your cookies on them. Then once cooked you can remove the foil with the cookies still on and then let them cool down on your kitchen worktop before tucking in.

Thanks for reading our air fryer chocolate chip cookies recipe on Recipe This. We have many more air fryer recipes for you to check out next. Though if you would like to try more air fryer sweet treats, I recommend you try our air fryer chocolate cake next.

A basic chocolate chip cookie will bake at 350°F for five minutes and comes out just right. However, you can make most cookies in the air fryer. When air frying, reduce the heat on the machine by about 25°F (so if a cookie recipe calls for 350°F in a conventional oven, set it to about 325°). It's super easy to adjust.

What is the best thing to put on bottom of air fryer? ›

"Put a slice of bread on the bottom of your air fryer," said Kang. "It's a green alternative to foil for catching grease and drips for easier clean-up." In order to minimize food waste, you may want to only use this technique when cooking especially greasy foods (like bacon), and also use bread slices that are stale.
